What is Aikido ? Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba ( often referred to as ‘Osensei ‘ or great teacher ) It is art involving some throws and joint locks that are derived from classical jujitsu and kenjitsu. Aikido focusses not on punching and kicking opponents, but rather on using there own energy to gain control of them or to throw away from you. It is not a static art, but places emphasis on motion and dynamics of movement. Who are Shoshin Aikido Stockport ?  Shoshin Aikido Stockport (Formally Stockport Aikido) have been in the Stockport area for over 35 years.We are now members of White Rose Aikikai under Shane Riley Shihan 7th Dan. We are a group of people who believe Aikido is an important part of our lives. We train under Sensei Sam Wilson 3rd Dan Shoshin Aikido Florida (Under Daniel Linden Sensei 6th Dan ASU) We are looking for people who are willing to commit themselves too hard and rewarding training in a traditional manner. Prospective dojo members need to understand that the study of Aikido is a lifelong journey and that there is little point in joining the dojo with a short term, casual approach.
